MUTARE is set to experience erratic water supply from today until Saturday following a major burst pipe on the city’s main supply line at the Odzani River crossing.

In a notice to the public, Mutare City Council said they will carry out the repair works on the transmission line today and tomorrow.

This will lead to depressed water supply across the entire city, the local authority said.

“Notice is hereby given to all customers, residents and stakeholders that City of Mutare has recorded a major burst pipe on the Pungwe line at the Odzani River crossing. As a result, council will carry out the repair works on the transmission line from November 15 to November 16.

“Customers, residents and stakeholders are therefore advised that the entire city may experience depressed water supply and interruption, especially those in high elevation,” reads the notice.

The local authority said it will dispatch water bowsers as an intervention measure to supply distressed customers with the precious liquid.

“Water supply will begin to normalise on November 18. We encourage all customers, residents and stakeholders to use water sparingly during this period,” adds the notice.
