NEW: Mutoko Fruit & Vegetable Processing Hub: A game changer

Online Reporter

President Mnangagwa today officially opened the Mutoko Fruit and Vegetable Processing Hub, which will enhance productivity and beneficiation of horticulture products in Mutoko and surrounding areas.

The commissioning comes at a time when horticulture farmers in Mutoko, Murehwa and Uzumba-Maramba-Pfungwe were incurring post-harvest losses due to lack of proximate markets.

Farmers were incurring high transportation costs to Harare’s green markets, such as Mbare Msika.

Said Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services permanent secretary, Mr Nick Mangwana:

“The hub will also produce capacity-building services for horticulture farmers to enhance their productivity as well as value addition of tomatoes to produce tomato paste.

“This intervention will intensify the horticulture sector’s contribution to national aspirations.”
