NEW: Nearly 600 cases recorded in July countrywide

A TOTAL of 587 cholera cases were recorded in July across the country, taking the cumulative number since the outbreak in February to 3 844, latest statistics by the Ministry of Health and Child Care show.

 

With 1 509, Manicaland recorded the second highest number of cases after Harare, which had 1 616.

Chipinge and Chimanimani districts have been the epicentre of the disease in the province.

 

Other areas that have so far been affected include Buhera, Mutare, Hwedza, Marondera, Chikomba, Chegutu, Chitungwiza, Chiredzi, Harare, Gokwe North, Mazowe, Shamva, Murewa, Mwenezi and Seke.

 

Both suspected and confirmed cases have been reported in all the country’s 10 provinces.
