NEW: Neighbours apprehend suspected armed robber

POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested a suspected armed robber, who was apprehended by neighbours of a home that he had invaded with his five-member gang. 

In a statement police said: 

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the arrest of John Mhere (34) in connection with a robbery case, which occurred at CSC Wilsgroove Feedlot Cement Side, Bulawayo. 

“The suspect together with five other suspects who are still at large stormed a home armed with a machete, spear and axes before attacking two complainants while demanding cash. 

“The victims screamed for help and their neighbors managed to apprehend John Mhere, whilst the other suspects sped-off in their gate-away blue Honda Fit vehicle.”
