NEW: NetOne gains subscriber market share

NETONE says it recorded a 31, 4 percent growth in market share in 2021, as active subscribers closed the year at 4, 5 million, which is a net growth of 779 278 in a single year, from 3, 7 million subscribers in 2020.

During the period under review,  revenues increased by 96 percent – in inflation-adjusted terms – to US$15,03 billion from $4,1 billion in 2020.

In historical terms, this translated to a 263 percent jump.

Addressing the company’s sixth annual general meeting (AGM) in the capital on Wednesday, NetOne board chairperson Ms Susan Mutangadura said: “During the period under review, the company witnessed growth in revenues and customers who subscribed to NetOne Mobile Financial Services (MFS).

“Concerted efforts by the business to drive the digital transformation strategy led to data contributing 51 percent of the total revenue in 2021.

“As a result, NetOne subscriber market share grew significantly from 28 percent in 2020 to 31, 4 percent in 2021.”
