Nine people succumbed to cholera, while 21 are suspected to have died from the disease as at May 17, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
Suspected cases have also risen to 1 080.
“Cholera cumulative cases have reached 1 080 suspected cholera cases, nine laboratory confirmed deaths, 21 suspected cholera deaths and 301 laboratory confirmed cases were reported,” said the ministry in a statement.
The 17 cholera hotspot districts in the country are Buhera, Chegutu, Chikomba, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Chitungwiza, Chiredzi, Harare, Gokwe North, Marondera, Mazowe, Shamva, Mutare, Murehwa, Mwenezi, Seke and Hwedza.
Cholera cases have been reported in nine provinces since the beginning of the year, with cases in the nine provinces having no epidemiological link to each other.
