THE ongoing construction of eight holiday homes in Ward 27 will give Nyanga South a major boost in domestic tourism, a local leader has said.

Ward 27 councillor, Councillor Phillip Matongo, said while the development is set to stimulate domestic tourism, it will also create employment opportunities for villagers in the local community.

Cllr Matongo added that this is in line with the National Development Strategy (NDS1) thrust of leaving no one and no place behind.

“Work is already underway in constructing eight holiday homes in this ward. This move is meant to complement our community’s commitment to promoting domestic tourism by showcasing the attractions Nyanga offers as we hope to attract both local and foreign tourists.

“In the long run, this will lead to the development of the local area as it also creates employment. We are moving with President Mnangagwa’s vision of achieving an upper middle income economy by 2030,” said Cllr Matongo.

Nyanga is one of Zimbabwe’s prime tourist destinations and tourism is one of the country’s fastest growing industries and spurring sustainable development.
