PALESTINE’S Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Dr Tamer Almassri, on Tuesday presented his credentials to the regional bloc’s executive secretary, Mr Elias Magosi.

Following the meeting, Ambassador Almassri said Palestine was in the process of consolidating relations with African states to create a substantial affiliation with the SADC region.

Mr Magosi stressed the key priority areas of the regional bloc as outlined in the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP 2020-2030) and the SADC Vision 2050, which guide its cooperation with partners.

The SADC Secretariat and the State of Palestine, through the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency (PICA), are currently negotiating a memorandum of understanding that seeks to establish a mutual understanding of their strategic relationship in establishing and implementing programmes of cooperation and development.
