NEW: Palestine condemns killing of Hamas political leader

Online Reporter

Palestine’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe Dr Tammer Almassri has condemned the assassination of Palestinian freedom fighter and head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Mr Ismail Haniyeh, by Israeli.

Ambassador Almassri said they consider the killing a war crime and hold Israel responsible for the consequences, particularly for the imminent escalation into a regional war, threatening world peace and security.

“This is a cowardly act by Israel, proving once again that Israel is defying international law and acting with impunity,” he said.

“We reiterate that (Israel  Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and his accomplices should be brought before the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court for war crimes, including the current genocide in Gaza. The Israeli apartheid occupation will push the Palestinian people to remain extra steadfast in the face of their war crimes.

“Mr Haniyeh’s assassination proves that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his fascist government have no intention of achieving peace, but rather intend to prolong the genocide in Gaza to shield Netanyahu from the domestic criminal cases against him. We reiterate that the Palestinian people will use all means guaranteed by the international law to defend themselves against this brutal occupation.”
