NEW: “Parastatals must spearhead transformation of rural livelihoods”

THE six parastatals under the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development must assiduously work to complement the Second Republic’s drive to transform rural livelihoods.

The parastatals include Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA), Kutsaga, AFC Holdings, Agriculture Research Council (ARC), Silo Food Industries (SFI), and the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority(ARDA).

Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister Dr Anxious Masuka made the remarks on Wednesday while announcing the re-appointment of board members of the enterprises.

“These boards will increase their operational efficiency and support the ministry’s developmental and transformative thrust, and more importantly, in support of the President’s Vision 2030.

“The President’s legacy is rural development, the Rural Development 8.0,” he said.

In terms of the appointments, Mr Aaron Denenga will chair the board of directors of Kutsaga.

He will be deputised by Professor Florence Mtambanengwe.

Mr Herbert Makuwa will chair AFC Holdings and he will be deputised by Mrs Knowledge Chikondo.

Mr Allan Majuru will lead AMA, with Tariro Muchena being his deputy.

The board chairperson for ARC is Professor Johnson Masaka, who will be deputised by Dr Susan Dimbi.

Mr Lance Jena chairs SFI board, deputised by Dr Marvellous Sungirai.

Dr Patience Siwadi is the deputy chairperson for ARDA.

Minister Masuka did not announce the chairperson for ARDA, but did indicate that “other changes” will be announced in due course.

The appointments follow the expiry of their first term on October 7, 2023.
