New pension pay date set

Government has set December 21, as payment date for all of last month’s unpaid pensions.

In a statement, Public Service Commission chairman, Dr Mariyawanda Nzuwah, said the delay in pensioners’ salary dates was regrettable.

“The following statement has been received from the secretary for Finance and Economic Development regarding unpaid pensions for the month of November 2015,” he said.

“We hereby confirm 21st December, 2015 as the payment date for the balance for the November pensions, the ministry regrets the delay in the payment.”

Pensioners were supposed to have been paid on November 30, but the dates were moved to Thursday last week before being shifted to December 21.

Some pensioners have resorted to sleeping in bank queues anticipating the payouts.
