Government has started distributing the 2024/25 Pfumvudza/Intwasa inputs to Grain Marketing Board (GMB) depots across the country as preparations for this summer crop season begin.
Writing on his micro blogging site, X, Secretary for Lands, Agriculture, Water, Fisheries and Rural Development, Professor Obert Jiri said the move sought to ensure a successful summer cropping season.
“As a Ministry, we believe in the success of planning ahead. In that vein, we have already started distributing Pfumvudza/Intwasa inputs to holding centres, mainly GMB depots, aiming for timely planting this coming summer season,” he said.
According to the 2024/25 summer crop plan presented in Cabinet recently, Government targets to increase the production of cereals by 340 percent this season, with 3,5 million people set to benefit from the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme.
