New political party eyes clean sweep

THE United Zimbabwe Alliance (UZA) is confident of victory after fielding candidates in four constituencies in the forthcoming by-elections.

Addressing journalists and party supporters in Harare during the official launch of UZA, Ms Elisabeth Valerio said her party was confident.

“We have fielded four candidates in Kwekwe Central, Mbizo, Kuwadzana and Harare East. We are sure we are going to win the four seats,” she said.

In Harare East, UZA candidate Mr Garikai Mlambo is battling it out against Zanu PF candidate Cde Mavis Gumbo, Citizens Coalition for Change’s Mr Tendai Biti, Labour Economics and African Democrats (LEAD) candidate Ms Precious Musarurwa, and MDC-A candidate Mr Christopher Mbanga.

In Kambuzuma East constituency UZA, candidate Mr David Kachidza will contest against Cde Ernest Chagadama (Zanu PF), Urayayi Mangwiro (MDC-A), Chalton Hwende (CCC) and Selestino Majiri of Patriotic Zimbabwe.

Mr Lenin Dzingire will represent UZA in Kwekwe Central, while in Mbizo, the party will be represented by Ms Gladys Mutunami.
