NEW: President Mnangagwa back home after attending inauguration of Malawi President

PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA has returned home after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Malawi’s President Peter Mutharika in Blantyre.

The President joined several Heads of State and Government at the ceremony, which was held at Kamuzu Stadium and attended by thousands of Malawians.

He was received at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Minister of State for Harare Provincial Affairs and Devolution Charles Tawengwa, Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Zvinechimwe Churu, service chiefs and senior Government officials.

President Mutharika, who garnered 56,8 percent of the vote in the September 16 general elections, was sworn in as Malawi’s seventh Head of State.

His running mate, Jane Ansah, also took an oath of office as Vice President.
