TRANSPORT and Infrastructural Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco has commended the progress made in the construction of roads that lead to the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden.

Speaking after touring the stretch between Nemakonde Road (formerly Lomagundi) and New Parliament-Boulevard Section on Tuesday, the Deputy Minister said work that has been done so far is very impressive.

Deputy Minister Sacco said the ongoing work exhibits his ministry’s commitment to deliver meaningful infrastructure development.

“Good road infrastructure plays a crucial role in the growth and development of a nation.

“Government, through the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), has anchored the development agenda on infrastructural projects,” he said.

“The Transport and Infrastructural Development Ministry has thus heavily invested in road construction and rehabilitation,” he said.

Government contracted Bitumen World as well as Exodus and Company to work on the link roads.

The deadline set for the completion of the project is July 31, 2024.
