NEWLY PROMOTED side Simba Bhora’s pedigree as a top-flight side will be tested when the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League begins, as they will face teams that finished in the top three last season in their opening fixtures.
The season kicks off on March 18.
Simba Bhora will host defending champions FC Platinum at Wadzanai Stadium in their first fixture.
However, the venue will first have to impress the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)’s Club Licensing First Instance Body to be allowed to host PSL matches.
In their next match, the side will square up against 2021/2022 runners-up Chicken Inn at Luveve Stadium, before hosting Dynamos the following week.
Their match against DeMbare could be exciting given that Tonderai Ndiraya, who guided Dynamos to third place last season, is now in charge of Simba Bhora.
DeMbare open their campaign with a trip to Hwange, while CAPS United host Manica Diamonds.
A mouth-watering clash between Highlanders and FC Platinum is on in week three.
The Battle of Zimbabwe, between Highlanders and Dynamos, will take place in week five, while the Harare derby is on in week seven.
The PSL has also revealed that two venues – Ascot and Vengere – have failed to meet the minimum stadium requirements.
“The 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season is set to commence on Saturday March 18, 2023.
“Please be advised that Ascot Stadium and Vengere Stadium have failed to meet the minimum stadium requirements as set by the ZIFA Club Licensing First Instance Body. The stadia will not host PSL matches until the necessary requirements are met,” wrote the PSL.
