NEW: Rare clean sheet for Tenax

PREMIERSHIP debutants, Tenax, posted their fourth win of the season and kept a fifth clean sheet while dispatching Cranborne Bullets 1-0 in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Sakubva Stadium yesterday.

Seasoned forward, Takunda “Sebo” Mapara scored the all-important goal with a ferocious shot from outside the box after being set up by Malvern “Agogo” Dumbura in the first half.

The result saw them leapfrogging three places up the log table ladder and are now positioned 13th with 17 points.

While the prisons and correctional services outfit has been managing to find the target upfront, their rearguard has been leaky and yesterday’s encounter was only their fifth shutout in 16 matches.

Breached 29 times, Tenax have the second worst record of goals conceded after fellow prisons wardens side Whawha (34).

The team’s executive member, Lloyd Chinawa said yesterday’s victory gives them confidence going into this weekend’s local derby against cross-town rivals Manica Diamonds.

“We are happy with collecting maximum points and keeping a clean sheet as well. This was a positive result in our fight against relegation and will boost our morale as we prepare to face Manica Diamonds this weekend,” said Chinawa.
