Zimbabwe Red Cross Society (ZRCS) is contributing to the national vaccination programme and the fight against Covid-19 through its vaccination programme.
Between 150 and 250 people are being vaccinated daily at the Red Cross Clinic in Harare’s Central Business District.
Red Cross Society clinical director Dr Joe Tapi said the move was meant to complement Government’s vaccination programme.
“In terms of our model, we thrive to offer high quality medical care at a low cost. We tend to bridge the gap between the private and public sector.
“We are here to play our role in augmenting the efforts of Government. We have also embarked in offering vaccines to the general public for free,” he said during a media tour of the Red Cross Clinic in Harare on Tuesday.
“We receive between 150 to 250 people daily that are coming into our vaccination site to receive their vaccines. This is really in line with Government efforts to ensure that we fight this pandemic and ultimately reach the national herd immunity.”
Sungura musician and Red Cross Society humanitarian ambassador Mr Alick Macheso urged citizens to heed experts’ call for more people to get vaccinated.
“As the music industry, we have not been working for the past two years due to the pandemic, so I encourage people and fellow members of this industry to get vaccinated so that we fight Covid-19.
“Let us desist from false information about the vaccines that circulate on social media, which discourage the uptake of vaccines,” said Mr Macheso.
