ECONOMIC development groups affiliated to ZANU-PF have been urged to stand firm on their word of support for the ruling party ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections.

Dubbed Teachers4ED, Vapostori4ED, Doctors4ED, Vendors4ED, Young Women 4ED and many others, the affiliates are mostly groups of like-minded people who support the same cause of economic development in Zimbabwe.

New affiliates towards the cause have of late been birthed and pledged their support to the revolutionary party while promising to throw their weight behind the party garner five million votes in next year’s plebiscite.

Speaking during a party inter-district meeting for Mutare District held at Mutare Hall this afternoon, ZANU PF Manicaland Provincial Commissar Cde Albert Nyakuedzwa said the numerous affiliates should continue to campaign for the party while rallying behind economic development.

“We urge our affiliates to be true to the party and campaign for the party. Do not be greedy and do not use the affiliates as pathways for corruption.

“More affiliates keep being birthed and we are glad that they have thrown their support behind the revolutionary party. We believe through them our vision of garnering five million plus votes will be achieved. The President loves you as you also love economic development,” said Cde Nyakuedzwa.

ZANU PF Mutare District Coordinating Committee chairperson Cde Binali Yard also warned members of the groups against joining different affiliates at a time saying, this will hinder the party in knowing the exact numbers of its members.

The province has been holding inter-district meetings since Wednesday across the province.

The meetings will end on Monday in Makoni District.
