DESPITE the load shedding currently being experienced across the country, the price of liquefied petroleum (LP) gas has remained relatively stable.
Many people have turned to LP gas as an alternative for electricity, especially for cooking and lighting.
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has reviewed LP gas prices for the month of December, which have marginally gone up in both US$ and local currency as its demand continues to soar.
A kg of LP gas now costs US$1,83 up from US$1,78 and $1 208,58 from $1 133,05.
ZERA last reviewed the prices in November.
In a notice to the public today, ZERA said: “Stakeholders are advised that the LP gas prices for the month of December, calculated according to the Petroleum (Liquified Petroleum Gas Pricing) Regulations 90 of 2021 are as follows: US$1,83 and $1 208,5 per kg.
“Operators are advised to display the prices at their retail outlets at a prominent place in clearly legible letters. Please, note that it is permissible to sell the product below the prescribed prices depending on one’s trading advantages.”
