NEW: Retailers urge caution in level 2

Online Reporter

The Confederation of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) has urged businesses and the general public to continue to strictly adhere to the new relaxed Covid-19 regulations to curb any further spread of the pandemic.

The current third wave has been receding, but concerns remain over the possibility of a fourth wave as has been seen in other countries.

CZR’s remarks come as Government yesterday relaxed a number of Covid-19 restrictions, hence moving from a level four lockdown down to a level two lockdown.

In a statement on Tuesday, CZR president Mr Denford Mutashu, encouraged people to remain cautious.

“Let us all remain vigilant and save lives and livelihoods. President Mnangagwa is on record saying it is better to save lives as the economy will be resuscitated in future. CZR therefore urges people to continue getting vaccinated,” he said.

“The country is in a state of war against the invisible enemy, the Covid-19 pandemic, and it is our collective responsibility to stop the spread of this respiratory disease. Together we can defeat Covid-19.”

Mr Mutashu applauded President Mnangagwa’s relaxation of the Covid-19 regulations.

The latest relaxation of Covid-19 measures came after Government’s recent decision to allow schools to re-open over the last couple of weeks.
