AN unsuspecting Mutare man last week lost his vehicle, US$100 cash and two cellphones to three armed robbers he had offered a lift at Hot Springs.

The unknown robbers assaulted Mr Supren Kaima and stripped him naked before dumping him near Fern Valley Turn-off.

Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the incident.

“Mr Kaima of Hobhouse suburb was driving his Honda Fit vehicle, Registration Number ADP6403 from Birchenough Bridge. He offered a lift to three unknown accused persons before picking up another passenger at 22 Miles along Mutare-Chimanimani Highway.

“Upon approaching Fern Valley Turn-off, the suspects asked to be dropped off. When the driver pulled off, one of the suspects grabbed him by the neck and ordered him to drive towards Fern Valley. He complied before the suspects ordered him to stop and take over the wheel.

“They drove for a few metres and upon approaching Dora Turn-off, the suspects stripped Kaima of his clothes and took away US$100 and two cellphones before driving off. The other passenger managed to escape,” said Assistant Inspector Chinyoka.
