RUFARO STADIUM has not yet been cleared to host Premier Soccer League (PSL) matches despite attempts by the Harare City Council (HCC) to hurriedly commission the ceremonial home of football.

On Thursday, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA)’s First Instance Board said Rufaro will first have to pass the test before being sanctioned to host PSL games.

HCC sources have indicated that the municipality’s engineers had not yet even conducted a technical inspection.

A letter written by ZIFA’s First Instance Board that was addressed to the HCC Town Clerk reads:

“The Zimbabwe Football Association has learnt through media reports of the commissioning of Rufaro Stadium slated for August 10, 2023.

“ZIFA would like to categorically state that the stadium is still not homologated to host any Premier Soccer League matches.

“The council is advised to ensure that the stadium is inspected before hosting any top-flight league matches.”
