SADC chair President Mnangagwa led a delegation of regional Heads of State and Government on a tour of the Geo Pomona Waste Management in Harare.

The former dumpsite used to inconvenience surrounding suburbs due to perennial fires that broke out every year and caused air pollution, thereby leading to public health issues.

The coming in of Geo Pomona Waste Management has resulted in a significant transformation of the landscape at the dumpsite, which is in line with the Government’s objective of establishing smart cities across the country.

Geo Pomona Waste Management signed an agreement with City of Harare to have full rights and control over the dumpsite for 30 years running from April 28, 2022.
