A 42-year-old Stoneridge Park man appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate, Ms Chiedza Manase on Friday, over charges of pointing a firearm without lawful cause at another man.

Robert Madzipurwa, who is a security guard, pointed the firearm at McDonald Goremucheche at Huruyadzo Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza on Wednesday, after a business deal went sour.

It is the State case that on December 7, 2022 at around 9am, Madzipurwa went to Goremucheche’s workplace at Huruyadzo Shopping Centre. While there, he demanded US$45 for 50 airtime cards that he had left for the complainant to sell.

Goremucheche had told the accused that he had not yet sold the airtime. This infuriated Madzipurwa who then produced a Rohm revolver pistol, and pointed it at Goremucheche.

Goremucheche panicked then counted 50 airtime cards, and gave them to Madzipurwa.

A police report was made leading to Madzipurwa’s arrest on the same day.

He was remanded out of custody and returns to court on December 19.
