A SECTION of the left wing of the church at St Augustine’s High School in Penhalonga caught fire last night.

Anglican Diocese of Manicaland Registrar, Mr Ashel Mutungura confirmed the incident, saying no one was injured in the inferno.

He said the cause of the fire could not immediately be established.

“A fire broke out in one of the pillars at St Augustine’s High School church. It was after study time and when alarm was raised, some of the learners rushed to the scene and attempted to put out the blaze. The inferno was eventually doused by the City of Mutare Fire Brigade,” said Mr Mutungura.

Mr Mutungura said they are yet to ascertain the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
