NEW: Starafrica reopens Harare sugar refinery

Starafrica Corporation (Pvt) Limited has resumed operations at its Goldstar Sugars (GSS) factory in Harare, following agreement on the pricing of raw sugar with its supplier.

In a statement on Wednesday, Starafrica group secretary, Mr Aldo Musemburi, said:

“The refinery of Goldstar Sugars resumed operations on Sunday February 19 2023.

“This followed the successful resolution of the pricing of raw sugar and the trading terms thereon between the company and the raw sugar supplier.

“GSS has resumed the supply of granulated white sugar to the market and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.”
