A DANGAMVURA man was recently arraigned before the courts for allegedly raping a juvenile.

Courage Bhamusi was not asked to plead when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Prica Manhibi, who remanded him in custody to tomorrow (April 14).

Mr Thurston Mubvumbi appeared for the State.

He told the court that sometime last year, Bhamusi took advantage of the absence of other people to rape the juvenile after she visited his residence.

“The complainant went to her mother’s friend’s house where Bhamusi is a tenant. The accused, who was alone at the house, raped the girl before threatening her with unspecified action if she divulged the incident to anyone,” said Mr Mubvumbi.

The matter only came to light when the juvenile missed her menstrual period. Upon being quizzed by her mother, she spilled the beans.

A police report was made, leading to Bhamusi’s arrest.
