PREMEIRSHIP hopefuls, Tenax, capitalised on log leaders, FC Wangu Mazodze’s slip up in the weekend fixtures to gain more ground in the ZIFA Eastern Region Division One league championship race for promotion.
The Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services outfit got the better of visiting FC Hunters 2-1 at Vengere Stadium in Rusape last week on Saturday, while their Masvingo rivals were held to a goalless draw by fellow title contenders, Mutare City Rovers.
On 38 points and with a game in hand, Tenax now trail FC Wangu Mazodze (39) by a single point after 18 rounds of matches.
Coach, Luke Jukilile-Petros and his charges have been consistent this season and are eying a quick return to the top-flight league following their demotion last term.
Elsewhere, former Premiership side, Buffaloes overpowered Rusape-based Midway 1-0 in a Manicaland derby, while Chimanimani outfit, Rusitu Tigers clobbered Surrey 3-0 and tightened their grip on fourth position.
Struggling Manica Diamonds Juniors were on the receiving end again after going down 1-2 to in-form and third-placed Bikita Minerals.
