IN the vibrant heart of Hwange, a coal-mining town, a star is shining bright in the gospel music scene.

Tafadzwa “Tittie” Mapfumo is on a joyful journey, determined to leave her mark and share her uplifting songs beyond the two she has already celebrated.

In an inspiring conversation with Zimpapers Arts and Entertainment Hub, Tittie shared how her wonderfully diverse upbringing has shaped her into the artiste she is today.

Born in the sunny town of Chiredzi, nurtured in the bustling city of Harare, and now thriving in Hwange, she attributes her rich background to the blossoming of her artistic flair.

“My biggest inspirations were Baba and Amai Charamba. I started singing at nine when I joined the choir at AFM Highlands Assembly in Chiredzi, and my heart has been full of music ever since. In high school, I was passionate about music but focused on my studies, so I couldn’t record at that time,” she beamed.

Tittie’s magical ability to perform Baba and Amai Charamba’s songs has left audiences spellbound. As she blossomed into her teen years, she discovered a world of artistes that inspired her, especially Bethany, whose stage she graced when she was just 12.

Six years ago, she plunged into her passion and took her music to the next level.

“I released my first song, ‘Tinotenda,’ in May 2019, and followed it up with a music video in 2020. In 2021, I recorded my second song, ‘Tichavaona Mwari’,” she shared with a bright smile.

Her undeniable talent has already caught the attention of industry giants. She has performed alongside Chaplain Phiri, who was thoroughly impressed by her beautiful hymn-singing abilities and expressed excitement about a future collaboration. Gospel star Sebastian Magacha has also pledged to join forces with her once she makes her way to Harare.

With dreams soaring high for both national and international recognition, Tittie is hard at work on her latest joyful creation, “Muri Mwari”.

“This year, my goal is to record and release more heartfelt music. I have many songs written and waiting to come alive, and I’m excited to share them with everyone!” she said.

With her undeniable talent and steadfast determination, Tittie is sure to bring joy and inspiration to gospel music lovers everywhere.
