MANICALAND’S two representatives in the Castle Lager Premiership continued signing the blues as Tenax’s battle to avoid relegation and Manica Diamonds’ quest to finish in the top four suffered severe knocks after damaging defeats in the weekend’s fixtures.
The prisons wardens lost 0-2 at home to fellow uniformed forces outfit Black Rhinos, while the Gem Boys’ new coach Jairos Tapera got a baptism of fire in his first game in charge after his charges were clobbered 3-0 at ZPC Kariba.
The defeat ended Tenax’s three-game unbeaten run of two successive victories and a draw as their battle for survival continues. On the other hand, Manica Diamonds succumbed to their fifth straight loss as their poor form persists.
Only four matches are left before the campaign concludes and the football faithful in the province is keeping its fingers crossed that the two sides achieve their targets for this season.
Tenax are hoping to preserve their Premiership status by evading the dreaded chop in the debut campaign, while Manica Diamonds are looking forward to bettering last term’s fifth place finish.
