NEW: More refuse compactors for Mutare

MUTARE City Council has stepped up efforts towards improving waste collection and management after procuring three more new garbage compactor trucks.

 

In a notice to the public, the local authority said it has already taken delivery of the refuse compactors, bringing the the total number to six.

 

City of Mutare said the development will go a long way in improving service delivery.

 

“The City of Mutare has received three more brand new refuse compactors, bringing to four the number of compactors that were delivered in September 2022. The coming in of the four brings to six the number of reliable refuse compactors in the city.

 

“The compactors were procured using council’s internal resources and funds. Refuse collection efficiency will now be scaled up to better standards. We are committed to delivering despite the challenging environment,” reads the statement.

 

Council requires 12 functional refuse compactors to cover city-wide garbage collection, adds the statement.

 

City of Mutare thanked residents and stakeholders for paying their rates in time as this enabled the procurement of the garbage compactor trucks.

 

The local authority said it is moving towards attaining smart city standards for Mutare.
