Online Reporter

TWO armed robbers who intercepted a woman in Waterfalls, Harare, and stole US$1 000 from her in July last year have been jailed for two years and six months each by Mbare magistrate Mr Batanai Madzingira.

Cleopas Makwande and Simbarashe Chingwaru were initially jailed for 36 months each when they appeared before the courts charged with armed robbery.

Magistrate Madzingira suspended six months on condition that the duo do not commit a similar offence within the next five years.

Makwande and Chingwaru robbed the woman in Mainway Meadows, Waterfalls, on July 25 while she was on her way home with her child from a medical centre.

The two armed robbers were travelling in a white Honda Fit (ADQ-0122) when they intercepted the woman, who was also driving a Honda Fit, before demanding money from her.
