NEW: Veteran educationist Muvodzi laid to rest

VETERAN educationist and former St Dominic’s High School headmaster Mr Augustine Muvodzi, who died on Thursday, was laid to rest at Dangamvura Cemetery in Mutare this afternoon.

Mr Muvodzi (79) was in and out of hospital until his death.

His funeral was presided by Roman Catholic Church Mutare Diocese Bishop, Bishop Paul Horan, at St Paul’s Parish in Dangamvura.

Born in 1944, Mr Muvodzi left a mark in Manicaland’s education circles after serving as a head at St Patrick’s and St Dominic’s high schools, respectively.

He was instrumental in transforming St Dominic’s as a force to reckon with in education in Zimbabwe as a whole.

Mutare Diocese education secretary Mr Lawrence Chibvuri described the late Mr Muvodzi as a hero whose dedication to duty was unmatched.

He described him as a great achiever.

Speaker after speaker, including family members, spoke highly of Mr Muvodzi’s personality which touched so many lives.
