Vice President Mohadi has emphasised the need for a significant transformation in Africa’s educational systems to enhance the overall development of the continent, underpinned by research, innovation, science, and technology.
In his keynote address during the official opening of the 12th Annual Conference of Speakers of African National and Regional Parliaments here, VP Mohadi who is representing President Mnangagwa, said there was a need to speed up action aimed at empowering Africans through enhanced capacity building that focuses on access to essential knowledge.
The conference is being convened under the African Union Theme for the Year 2024, befittingly titled “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa”.
“Let us expedite the deployment of science, technology, and innovation to break colonially imposed barriers for unity and speedy integration of the continent,” he said.
“Effective coordination of policies and programmes of our Regional Economic Communities (RECs) must be given precedence in our engagements.”
