VIXENS’ unbeaten run has finally come to an end.
The reigning national and Harare champions suffered their first defeat in 14 games when the Evans Gasva-coached side went down 53-37 to Greenstars City Sports Centre on Monday.
The game was part of the Harare Basketball Association (HBA)’s crash programme, as they target to wrap-up the remaining HBA Super Six fixtures before next week’s Basketball Union of Zimbabwe (BUZ) National League finals.
Vixens’ defeat was one of the three matches played on Monday, as UZ Sparks made some ground on the women’s HBA Super Six log leaders courtesy of a 52-43 win over JBC.
In the men’s category, the reigning Harare and National League champions, Foxes, continued their fine form with a 62-57 win over UZ Stars.
Three more games were played on Tuesday.
Harare City Hornets women beat Bunnies 50-31, while JBC men continued their unbeaten run with a 55-46 win over Bucs.
Leopards Academy beat Harare City Hornets men 63-56.
JBC are yet to taste defeat all season and are firmly perched on top of the men’s log standings with 42 points from 21 games.
Leopards Academy are second with 34 points from 22 games.
Despite the loss, Vixens still top the women’s log standings with 40 points from 22 games, while UZ Sparks (37) and Harare City Hornets (30) complete the top three spots.
JBC (29), Greenstars (27) and Bunnies (25) round off the log standings.
