New Volkswagen Polo lighter, more efficient

It may not look completely different, but the new 2015 Volkswagen Polo has received a number of important changes. VW Polo 2014 was a benchmark model in terms of its power train but there is no suggestion that the new version has strayed from that source of praise. With the new base model packing 66kW of power on the VW Polo 2015, the engine is rather more refined and usable.

Gone is the previous base model’s 1,4 litre naturally aspirated engine, as both Polo models now get a new 1,2 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

The new petrol turbo is lighter and more efficient, and offers re-mapped power delivery for better drivability.’ “The entire engine range was reconfigured and on this brand VW has realised fuel economy improvements of as much as 21 per cent.

“With the new Polo, we have enhanced the driving comfort for our customers. We are confident that the introduction of new features in Polo in this festive season will appeal to discerning car buyers across the country, who demands nothing less than the best that German engineering has to offer,” said Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India director Mr Michael Mayer.

FCM director Mr Freddie Mutanda yesterday said VW Polo 2015 is a combination of both economy and affordability.

Perhaps the most crucial change on the new VW Polo 2015 is that it is now cheaper than ever and it is rather prudent if you can pay a visit to FCM along Samora Machel just to take a look.

The car is selling at $15 000. The economical and powerful engine on the new Polo is the biggest selling point .The new Polo received a thorough overhaul compared to the 2014 model, including a revised specification range, new engines from the up.

VW Polo has always lagged behind the Ford Fiesta when it comes to entertainment behind the wheel, due to its rather lifeless steering. However, where the Polo does excel is with its refinement and composure on the move thanks to its big car feel. This facelifted model has been infused with Golf DNA so it’s even more grown-up than before.

In terms of styling, the updated Polo introduces a number of mild nips and tucks to its exterior, including a revised grille, headlight and bumper treatment, and a different rear bumper and tail-light inlays.

Inside there have been a few more noticeable changes, including a standard 5,0 inch colour touch screen media system and revised fabrics, not to mention the restyled air vents. Satellite navigation was previously optional on the Polo with a larger 6,5-inch touch screen infotainment unit, but is now unavailable even as an option due to the new media screen being incompatible. Otherwise, standard equipment levels go largely unchanged. Two option packages are also available on the top spec model.

The vehicle’s driving comfort package includes adaptive cruise control, climate control air conditioning, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a driver fatigue detection system, city emergency brake system with warning and auto-braking, auto headlights, auto wipers, a reverse-view camera and tyre pressure monitoring.

The sport package includes 17 inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring, lowered sports suspension, dark tinted rear glass and front fog-lights with static cornering function. VW Polo from Volkswagen is one of the world’s best selling super-mini cars with nearly 14 million units produced.

Whatever the segment name, and regardless of its compact dimensions, attractive prices and good fuel economy values, there is nothing small about the Polo.
