A MALAWIAN Member of Parliament, Honourable Bertha Ndebele, has applauded the Mutasa North constituency electorate for voting female candidates into office.
She further urged them to re-elect Mutasa North legislator, Cde Chido Madiwa and the local authority Ward Six representative, Councillor Regina Barara as their candidates in the forthcoming 2023 harmonised elections.
Addressing the women during a Women’s Leadership Exchange Visit between Malawi and Zimbabwe’s Women’s Parliamentary Caucus teams in Honde Valley this afternoon, Honourable Ndebele urged women to always rally behind each other.
“You should keep voting female candidates in their numbers into power because we currently have a shortage of women in politics in the continent. The numbers are not pleasing, but this can only be changed if we as women decide to change and support each other like you are doing here in Mutasa North. As women, you know what challenges the next woman is facing and how to solve it, therefore you should stand up and be heard. Take up these decision making and leadership positions,” she said.
Honourable Ndebele further urged them to educate the girl child for her to take up leadership positions in the future.
The visit is running from Monday until Saturday.
