Zimbabwe’s national soccer team has suffered the consequences of their disastrous start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers by dropping five places down the FIFA world rankings.
The Warriors, who picked up a point out of a possible six, in their opening two World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia, are now ranked 113th on the latest FIFA ratings released on Thursday.
Zimbabwe dropped two places to 28th on the continent.
They were 108th in the world in the August rankings before a calamitous show in the World Cup qualifiers.
Zimbabwe drew 0-0 against South Africa at the National Sports Stadium on September 3, before losing 0-1 to Ethiopia in Bahir Dar four days later.
The two results claimed the scalp of coach Zdravko Logarusic, who has since been replaced by Norman Mapeza.
South Africa remain 73rd in the world and 13th in Africa.
Senegal are Africa’s top-ranked nation, followed by Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Nigeria.
