THE ruling party, Zanu PF, has registered a clean sweep in all the three wards where by-elections were held in City of Mutare.

The revolutionary party also won Ward 19 in Buhera District where it polled 93 percent of the cast votes.

Ward 19 is in Buhera Central.

Zanu PF Manicaland provincial secretary for information and publicity, Cde Sam Matema, said the writing was on the wall for a clean sweep by Zanu PF.

“The writing was on the wall, and with an opposition that is at sixes and sevens, the by-elections were for Zanu PF to lose across all the four wards.

“We are clear that this was a dry run for 2028, and it admits of no debate that 2028 is inviting for the revolutionary party, Zanu PF. As a province, we are clear in terms of our direction and intentions to consolidate the gains we have made thus far as we lay a solid foundation for the  2028 elections,” said Cde Matema.
