ZIMBABWE Investment and Development Agency (ZIDA) has signed a three-year agreement for cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group.
The agreement will see IFC assisting ZIDA with technical support in investment promotion.
Speaking at the signing ceremony on Friday, ZIDA acting chief executive officer Mrs Duduzile Shinya said: “The collaboration, which will be implemented under the auspices of a Cooperation Agreement signed by the parties, will see ZIDA receive the technical support from IFC over the next three years.
“IFC will support key elements of the operationalisation of the Special Economic Zone regime through drafting and promulgation of critical parts of a policy and regulatory framework.”
IFC country manager Mr Adamou Labara said they are committed to support the country.
“The support we are providing to ZIDA is one step, but a very critical step. The step that will send a signal to the external world that we are serious about private-sector development,” he said.
IFC offers investment, advisory and asset management services to encourage private-sector development in developing countries.
