HARARE City Council (HCC) will soon take delivery of 15 refuse trucks, five tipper trucks and 10 compactors as it tries to improve service delivery.

The local authority has since fully paid for eight refuse trucks, which are already in the country.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Online, HCC spokesperson Mr Michael Chideme said the remaining trucks that have been paid for will arrive by Sunday.

“We have ordered 15 refuse collection trucks, composed of 10 compactors and five tipper trucks. Of those, eight have since been fully paid for.

“We are paying for the reminder and part of the fleet is already in the country because we bought them from a local supplier,” he said.

“We are going to be buying more trucks every year. For now, we are going to be buying them in batches until we get to the required numbers.”
