THE Zimbabwe Institute of Foundries (ZIF), an association that represents the interests of players in the local base metal industry, on Thursday engaged representatives from Chinese and Indian companies keen to invest in the sector.
ZIF chief operating officer, Mr Dosman Mangisi, explained to The Sunday Mail Online the purpose of the meeting.
“We are meeting representatives of 12 Chinese and Indian companies that are keen on investing in the local base metal sector.
“Some of the companies have already opened shop and the purpose of the meeting is to harmonise the operations of the local base metals sector,” Mr Mangisi said.
The meeting comes after ZIF, in conjunction with the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), successfully hosted a metal casting summit in February.
ZIF has been engaging different players in the foundry industry to promote beneficiation of metals, as the country is rich in base metals, which are a key raw material for foundries.
