A Zimbabwean dentist, Dr Walter Tendi, has been admitted to study a Master’s Degree in Endodontics at the King’s College in London, a prestigious global school teaching dentistry.

The institution was ranked as the best dentistry school on the QS world rankings for dentistry.

Dr Tendi will be doing a three-year programme, which will see him attain a skill that is currently rare in Zimbabwe.

Endodontics is a speciality in dentistry that is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases to the dental pulp or nerve.

The additional training focuses on gaining expertise in treatment of traumatic dental injuries, toothache, persistently sensitive teeth, discoloured teeth, providing painless root canal treatment,  and teeth associated with swelling and endodontic surgery.

Dr Tendi did his degree in Dentistry at University of Zimbabwe, where he completed his studies in 2018.

He has been in private practice since.

His studies are being funded by Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe through a loan system in which they are bankrolling medical and dental professionals to advance themselves academically.
