THE Ministry of Health and Child Care together with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) are currently touring Chipinge and Chimanimani as part of preparations for commemorations to mark World Breastfeeding Week 2022.
The tour, which started on July 18 and will end on July 21, is meant to capture and publicise the role played by local leadership and care groups in promoting, protecting and supporting breastfeeding.
World Breastfeeding Week 2022 will run from August 1 to August 7, 2022.
This year’s World Breastfeeding Week will run under the theme “Step Up For Breastfeeding: Educate and Support.”
The tour will get the ball rolling for Zimbabwe’s commemorations of World Breastfeeding Week 2022.
In a statement, UNICEF said: “Village health workers around the country are supported by the Ministry of Health and Child Care with financial support from UNICEF under the Health Development Fund (HDF) supported by the European Union, UK Aid, Sweden, Irish Aid and Gavi.”
