NEW: Zim records two confirmed cholera deaths

Two people died of cholera while seven suspected cholera deaths were recorded in Zimbabwe as at April 18 2023.

This is according to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC).

In a statement, MOHCC said: “As of April 18 2023, a cumulative total of 475 suspected cholera cases, two laboratory confirmed deaths, seven suspected cholera deaths, and 102 laboratory-confirmed cases were reported.”

The 17 cholera hot-spot districts in the country are Buhera, Chegutu, Nikomba, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Chitungwiza, Chiredzi, Harare, Gokwe North, Marondera, Mazowe, Shamva, Mutare, Murehwa, Mwenezi, Seke, and Wedza

Cases have been reported in eight provinces since the beginning of the year.

The Ministry has said the cases in the eight provinces have no epidemiological link to each other.
