The hospitality industry in Bulawayo got a major boost over the weekend as a new 46-roomed Sterling Hotel was launched.
It will likely add to available capacity ahead of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), which begins next week.
The Bulawayo hotel is the third facility that the Sterling Hotel Group has invested in to date, in addition to the two that are already operational in Harare and Mvurwi.
Speaking during the launch of the new facility, Environment, Climate, Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Mangaliso Ndlovu said:
“I am reliably informed that there are other investors that are seriously exploring opportunities in Bulawayo and immediate environs. These include a combination of local and foreign investors.
“Moreso, as a show confidence in destination Zimbabwe, more and more international tourism brands are warming up to having their presence in Zimbabwe, with Bulawayo being one of the investment destinations being earmarked for development by such brands.”
Zimbabwe has of late witnessed notable growth in hotel construction.
