Zimbabwe will soon become a dynamic industrial hub capable of churning out a broad range of value-added iron and steel products for both the local and international markets, President Mnangagwa has said.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony of Phase One of the integrated Dinson Iron Mining and Steel Manufacturing Plant in Manhize on Thursday, President Mnangagwa said the project – along with a number of investments made in the country’s steel sector – will transform mining into a US$12 billion industry.
“The ground-breaking ceremony is occurring against a backdrop of an array of new investments and exploration projects,” he said.
“The project constitutes a critical building block towards the realisation of the US$12 billion mining economy and our national Vision 2030.
“Through this investment, our country will now host one of the largest iron and steel manufacturing plants on the continent.”
