Zimbabwe and China will continue to deepen bilateral ties and embark on socio-economic projects that impact positively on both countries, the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe has said.
In a statement after the recent inaugural Harare Forum for Africa, which was co-hosted by the China-Zimbabwe Exchange Centre and other institutions, the Chinese Embassy said:
“His Excellency Ambassador Zhou Ding addressed the first Harare Forum for Africa, which was co-hosted by the China-Zimbabwe Exchange Centre, Heyang Institute for Rural Studies, Tsinghua Institute of Culture and Creativity and several Zimbabwean think-tanks.
“Ambassador Zhou commended the forum’s pioneering role in promoting cultural and educational exchanges, facilitating trade and economic cooperation, and supporting Zimbabwe’s rural revitalisation.”
The embassy said frequent exchange visits between China and Zimbabwe have strengthened bilateral relations and contributed to Zimbabwe’s economic and social progress, including the latter’s rural development.
“As an all-weather friend of Zimbabwe, China has prioritised food security and rural poverty reduction as main areas of cooperation. More practical livelihood projects including food assistance, borehole drilling and rehabilitation of irrigation systems will materialise soon to facilitate the realisation of Zimbabwe’s Rural Development 8.0 Strategy and Vision 2030,” added the statement.
