ZIMBABWE’s non-playing captain Takanyi Garanganga says the Davis Cup team is in high spirits ahead of their World Group II play-off tie against hosts Hong Kong this weekend.

The Zimbabwe Davis team comprises mostly of foreign-based players, led by the Lock brothers — Benjamin and Courtney —  and the United States-based duo of Benedict Badza and Tatenda Mutetwa.

Speaking from Hong Kong, where the team has already assembled, Garanganga said there is a lot of excitement within the Zimbabwe camp ahead of the Davis Cup match on February 3 and 4 at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium.

“The entire team is now in Hong Kong and very excited about the tie this weekend,” he said.

“Their players are young, fired up and playing at home, but we are prepared for the challenges that lie ahead and look forward to having a good time on the court,” he said.

The former Zimbabwe top seed is still nursing an injury.
